HEERF Grant Application Guide - Get Instant Financial Assistance

HEERF Grant is a federal program that focuses on helping American students with their education. The said program was supervised generally by the Office of Postsecondary Education (OPE) and handled locally by different colleges and universities.
The HEERF Grant prioritizes those students who are greatly affected by the pandemic to support them with financial assistance for their education. The said program is divided into three sections; HEERF I, HEERF II, and HEERF III.

HEERF Grant 3 Divisions

The HEERF Grant is divided into three different sections and under three different laws.

The federal government included the said program within 3 different laws that focus on helping American citizens to recover from the impact of the pandemic.
Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund I (HEERF I)
The HEERF I is the first division of the program that was under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act or CARES Act.

The law was passed last March 27th, 2020. With this, HEERF I have an allocation budget of approximately $14 billion that will be given to its eligible beneficiaries.
Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II (HEERF II)
The HEERF II is the second tranche of the program and was established with the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, of 2021. CRRSAA was signed into law on December 27, 2020.
The CRRSAA gives $81.88 billion in funds for education and an additional $30.75 billion that was provided because of the CARES Act. The allocation for this tranche is bigger than the first one as it helps several beneficiaries throughout the nation.
Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III (HEERF III)
The HEERF III is the last and latest tranche of the said program. This division was authorized under the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Law that was passed last March 11, 2021.
The said law provides a total of $39.6 billion in resources with education. This tranche was created to assist and support more eligible students for the program and to ensure the process of education throughout the pandemic.
As the HEERF Grant has its three different divisions that were created within three consecutive periods, the said program gave a vast impact in terms of education in the United States. The program gave its beneficiaries a struggle-free learning process.

How to be Eligible for HEERF Grant?

To be eligible for HEERF Grant, students must pass the qualification rules of Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965. You can see the specific rules below.
1. Must be U.S citizens or lawful permanent residents of the country.
2. Must be U.S citizens or lawful permanent residents of the country.
3. Must have a high school diploma.
4. Must be enrolled in a degree program in college or university.

5. Must not be in default and do not owe an overpayment on Title IV Loans.
6. Must repay Title IV Loan.
7. Must not have fraudulently obtained Title IV Loans above annual limits.
8. Must have a verified Social Security Number.
9. Must have a verified Selective Service Registration.
10. Must have a certification with a statement of educational purpose or Social Security Number for the financial aid application process.
11. Must not have any federal or state conviction related to drug possession.

How to Apply for a Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund Grant?

As of now, the application for Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III (HEERF III) is open. The application for HEERF will be done online. The deadline for the application of Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III (HEERF III) will be on September 10, 2021.
After the application process, the disbursement of the HEERF Grant will take up to three days through electronic transfer to the student’s account. For the check, it will take almost a month that will be sent through email.

How Much Financial Assistance Can a Beneficiary Get?

However, the value for the financial assistance ranges from $1500 to $3000.
Prioritization for those eligible students was based on the Financial Aid Office. Students that are not capable of supporting their needs such as housing, food, or health. Also, those students that received Pell Grants are the ones who are prioritized.
